    Asus N56JN Boot issue

    Hello

Starting by the 1st of May I'm having some trouble booting my Asus N56JN notebook.

I think it's an HW issue, because i've already tried some solutions with always the same problem:
    • Booting from USB without HDD
    • Boot without RAM (and with only one bank and exchange each other)
    • Boot without wireless HW
    • Boot with and without battery (and with/without charger)
    • Disconnect CMOS battery for 30min
    • And also boot without various HW because the notebook was disassembled

You can see the issue on this video on YT: https://youtu.be/QnswbaL2Syw (no backlight on the screen)

As you can see, the HDD and WIFI LEDs are blinking in a strange way, and rarely after some time the PC starts, but most of the times it doesn't, and I have to manually turn it off.

When it boots up everything is working perfectly, in fact I'm writing this post using the Notebook, no freezes, all the HW seems to work fine (GPU, RAM, WIFI, Ethernet, USB...) no issues at all.

Now, when I don't need it I put it in sleep mode (don't know if it's the correct name in english, but it's when everything is saved in RAM) and there is no problem waking up the device.

I have no idea about the solution...but i was thinking about a BIOS problem.. is it possible?

    Thanks for any answer

May be some corrosion somewhere or cold solder joints.

Thanks, there's something I can do to be sure about it?

Thanks, if that's what happened I think that the problem will show up even when the PC is on, but no problem at all after boot..
          Am I missing something?

Well, dump & flash the BIOS and see if the behavior changes.

                Thanks,

Sorry if I bother you but this is the first time i have to deal with this kind of problem.

You suggest to change the eeprom with a new one or erase and flash this one?

It's better to use another SPI ROM of the same model if you have one lying around. Otherwise you can reuse the same chip after making sure you got a correct dump from it.

Ok, I'll do it, but first i have to buy the equipment to read the memory

I'll also buy the memory with the programmer.

I haven't found in the forum a general guide on how to do a dump and verify it, do you have a link to it?
Otherwise I'll find it somewere else on the internet

                    Thanks again for your support!
