    Please help me identify this capacitor and find a replacement. Markings on it read

    F273J E
    1250PPS1

    Tried google but didn't really get any hits. Thanks in advance.

              I don't see anyone mention anything about the voltage rating. That said, the cap looks too small to be rated for 1250V (in addition to 1250V being a rather odd voltage rating) as the second info line would suggest. At the same time, it does look a bit too big for just being a 250V cap... though if I had to guess, it probably is a 250V-rated cap.

              Could we get a clue in what application this cap was used or what part of the circuit?

              Yup... or just metal film if you want to generalize.
              Though there is a slight difference in the performance between PP (polypropylene) and PE (polyester) caps, with the former having much more stable characteristics at high frequencies. Of course, PP caps also tend to be a bit more expensive than PE, generally.
