Original PS4 BLOD after replacing HDMI port.

Hi, ill try to keep this short. I got my hands on a PS4 with a mangled HDMI port and assumed that it would be an easy fix. before the replacement it booted up fine (white light) however after replacing the port it booted up fine for 2 times and then after plugging in an HDMI cable and turning on the console to check whether it had video out it never booted again, even after unplugging the cable. now it gets stuck on the blue flashing light and after 25-40 seconds it pops out the disk (if one is inserted) and shuts itself off. Upon investigating i found that the capacitors near the HDMI port are all shorted and so are the ones close to the APU (although the ones close to the APU might always read this way not sure) all the data pins and power pins on the new HDMI port seem to also be shorted to GND, visually they do not look shorted however im new to SMD soldering. I definately heated the board for way too long to remove the old port as the Pcb got somewhat charred (maybe this killed the HDMI encoder and shorted everything?) i fail to understand how the PS4 has gotten the BLOD as a short would usually result in the ps4 turning off almost instantly not 25-40 seconds.

Any ideas or help would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you

    hi Bro
first get to know that BLOD is not related to Hdmi problems

can you first Post A high resolution pictures from your work on that board ?

diffently there is short between pins during the rewrok of that HD

    and as a start
desolder the hdmi port first and clean the pads
then test the traces again from Pin 1 to 19

      Thanks for the reply!

Here are some photos, i do not own a microscope so this is the best that i can do :/
Could a short fry the APU? as I think the BLOD was brought on by something i did for sure, too much of a coincedence to not be. The black marks in the pictures is charring from overheating..

No this is flux residue and needs to clean off with flux remover or something similar you might have to rub it with q-tip

Hi, ive already tried removing it with a qtip and some alcohol but it doesnt go, is flux residue conductive?

Take off this screen and see what is there with the components, there is also the hdmi controller, if the controller is not working (overheated, in a short circuit), then there will also be BLOD.

Thank you, I will try removing the shield. I will check the 4 filters and then remove the IC if those seem fine. If the short goes away it is safe to assume that it is the IC at that point? of course I will check my soldering on the HDMI port first..

It might be depending upon what formula that was used

Then get some flux remover spray will remove it

One note of interest you can take an ice pick and very gently scrape the the flux area until it flakes off but do this carefully around circuit board traces or you will damage the traces

Update: I found multiple shorts on the HDMI port due to my crappy soldering.. I hope I haven't fried the Encoder IC but there is little hope. I will attempt to fix the shorts and continue from there. Thank you all!

Just make sure that you use the correct soldering iron tip and the correct temperature settings and the right flux and solder and take your time and do not get in a hurry
