Hello,

I was recently given this tv and it has a standby light on when plugged in, but no picture comes on when the power button is pressed. Any ideas on where to start?

quick test, try it with one ribbon cable connected then turn on tv, then try the other cable so one connected at a time, best policy is to do all connecting and un-connecting with tv unplugged from power to avoid any errant surges and such.

Which ribbon cable? Does it matter? Uploaded a couple of photos.

usually its the 2 flat wide cables going from tcon to panel driver boards but not seeing it in this picture.

thinking you should have a tcon, it may be hidden under a shield or somewhere.

And here are T-con and cables, if the TV does not go into operating mode, you most likely have lost the firmware or processor or dc / dc regulators on the motherboard.

Okay. I unplugged one ribbon cable, plugged in ac power. Standby light came on, pressed the power button, nothing except the standby light was on. Unplugged ac power, plugged in first ribbon, unplugged second, plugged ac power in and standby light came on and the power button didn't do anything else.

Consider Firmware Dump as a programmer and post it here, I'll see if it works or not.

I'm a little confused. Do you need a picture of that chip showing the numbers?

No, you must unsolder it and read its contents (firmware) on the programmer and put this file with the firmware here. If you have a programmer RT809f (H), then you can not solder, but read through the VGA connector.
