common SATA adapters that support SAS?

Anyone know of common SATA controllers that support SAS? Perhaps all I'd need is one of those SATA-SAS adapters and one of these controllers?

Else will I have to get a SAS backplane and dedicated SAS card and all to access a SAS disk?

Wondering about how I can use this one 146GB 15K RPM SAS disk I have. Disk was free, if infrastructure will cost $ARM$LEG then I may well just put the disk in the trash (or wait until someday I get a machine with a SAS backplane...)

Nope, it won't work. You need a SAS controller.
Ebay and get an SSD instead.

Thought most don't but there are some that do.
Need a way to prove that the drive works... it *should* work but ...well, you know...

A SAS controller can deal with SATA drives and SAS but a SATA controller can't talk to SAS drives.
