    Help me please 😭

hi guys, someone is kind enough to help me understand which diode is the one circled, it is part of an old maxtor hard drive, it blew up and I couldn't find any the scheme and not even to understand what diode it may be.

Desolder it and clean the PCB so you can see where things are connected.
It may be a TVS diode, see this page for an explanation:

It looks like a 5v tvs diode, I will pick up the diode online and replace it. thank you very much 😁

You don’t need the protection diode for the hdd to function. If you take it off, the hdd should work, without over voltage protection. What did you do? Plugged in a cable from a different modular PSU? Those cables are not standardized. So one brand fits the other, but with the reversed pin out, so you 12v on the 5v pins and the rest is self explanatory.
