    Equipment Id and usage

    Hello,

    I ran across a piece of test equipment and I'm
    not sure as to what its supposed to be used for,
    or how to use it. It's a Halcyon 519A remote retransmission tester (see pics below).
    Has anyone here actually used one of these?

    Any info appreciated,

        The main thing I'm looking for here is what would be the
        typical use,application or setting that this piece would be used in.

          Well, in reading the link I gave you:

          DESCRIPTION
          The 519A Remote Retransmission System is designed to eliminate end-to-end coordination in the measurement of envelope delay and frequency response characteristics of a data channel. Through various system configurations, the 519A may be utilized in a manual or automatic mode to either retransmit the response characteristics of the forward line back to the controlling terminal, or alternately, accept a reference signal received from the master terminal to sweep and measure the return channel. " Frequency Range: 200 to 4kHz " Receiver Sensitivity: +10 to -50 dBm

          It looks like it tests signals between 200Hz and 4kHz passing through a wire.
          Can send, receive, or transpond (bounce back).

          It's like a continuity checker only it checks at a frequency instead of at DC.
          Frequency range makes me think it's for phone lines but that's a guess.
