Hi my name steven this is my first forum i have joined. I really like how everything and everyone is so helpful. Everything I've know about electronics I've learned myself off the Internet, so this is a very good site for me to learn more.

Hello! I'm a manager at a small repair shop dabbling into some TV repair. Thanks for giving me such good information on how to repair a lot of these sets.

I know a bit of common problems for a few TVs, such as RCA LED tvs, and a bunch of vizios.

Hello all, my handle is boattinker. Because I work on boats a lot. It was supposed to be a hobby but has turned into semi-retired hobby gone wild. I live near the west coast of Oregon, Sheridan Oregon, halfway between Mcminnville, Oregon and Spirit mountain casino. I don't do the gambling thing much though.

66 years young and enjoy tackling repairs of most anything new to me as long as it does not bite very hard. have considerable experience in public speaking and public education, volunteer work. Experience which leads me to these kinds of forums. Computers are primarily a tool for me, for professional networking, the sharing of knowledge. The collective knowledge of the web, is absolutely amazing, sharing one's own expertise is most rewarding.

Anyway electronics repair has been a sideline for about 30 years, because well, boats have gadgets, mostly a component r&r guy, Circuit boards and the like. I get by that way because I can usually find someone on the net who can lead me to the correct circuit board to replace, and that's about 98% of the hard part.

Anyway, I will be lurking here occasionally for technical tidbits to add to my personal library of other people's graciously shared knowledge that i might pay it forward. .

Kevin, 48 yrs old. Reynoldsburg Ohio.

MO: First computer was when I was around 15. That was a TI-99/4a and i've been hooked on computers and electronics ever since. Work career has included 8 yrs as electronics repair of crypto devices (military), UNIX SA, Windows SA, .NET programmer, history of perl, c, java, whatever was needed at the time. Everything via the school of hard knocks (minus formal electronics training in the Army).

Currently trying to save monitors, computers, and tv's from the dump. So far i've saved 2 by just replacing cap's but starting to get into unfamiliar realms and hope the forums here can help me out when needed. another side project is taking old computer hardware and building an old school arcade system.

                                    Hello all.

I'm relatively new to the electronics world (at least the DIY side of it) but am a quick study. I thirst for more knowledge and that insatiable need has led me here.

I will open by saying that I truly appreciate all the professionals in this very diverse field of engineering who use their time to help the hobbyists such as myself. Reading the first page of this thread was almost a little intimidating; reminding me of how much there is to learn, and that some of you here have spent lifetimes gathering your knowledge. My hat's off to you, and thank you.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoy making junk out of more junk. I get a little giddy when I see old, broken down devices just tossed away like so much trash...ok, maybe it really is trash but I can almost always find a use for it....
