More Whacky HP PSU Adaptors Z420

    Hey guys

A while back I posted a thread about creating a adapter to get a normal ATX PSU to work with a HP Z400 Motherboard.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=47754

Adapter made up works perfectly to this day

I now have another HP board on its way to me from a Z420.

Now HP obviously decided to step up their game on the proprietary pinouts because this is on another level.

The main ATX connection is only 18 pins on the Z420 board and they are all pinned out differently. AFAIK they are the same as Z210/220 which the pin out is lifted from.

Now as you guys are prob several steps ahead of me already you can see the issue here, there is a 11v Standby on the HP PSU which will be absent on my standard ATX of choice.

There are adapters available here ( I have ordered one) but my main question is are they safe for long term use?

I am quite happy to strip the adapter down but I think they more than likely use a voltage converter of some sort to step up the normal 5vsb ?

    Anyone used one of these?

    Cheers!
