    Dell Optiplex 3060 bios

I work for a Laptop/Desktop refurbishing company. We just came across a bunch of Optiplex 3060's that when Windows is installed, it will pop up with the original owner company if connected to the internet. This renders us from being able to resell them again.

I thought about it might be the Dell bios, but that doesn't make sense for it to be able to make windows do this. So I'm guessing it is the embedded windows key to call Microsoft home and the original ownership with this key is then somehow overides the activation to show their company name and property of etc.

I tried to even just put in a generic windows key to see if I can override the embedded, but it looks like it still calls this key.

What I am wondering if I pull the bios to file, is it possible to wipe the embedded key from the bin file. And if so, is it easy enough to do? I think we have at least 50 units to do so it would be a pain to ask someone here to help with all the units we have.

it could be malware in the bios called "computrace"
it can phone home and patch windows on the drive before it even boots!

Yeah I checked that. It was enabled but not activated. I disabled nonetheless however still greeted with this when you try to enter into Windows 10 from a fresh install. It only happens with connected to the internet, so it must be associated with the OEM key. Btw this is from a x1 carbon with the same issue.

Normally we would attempt to contact the former owners, but most just don't know what the hell we are talking about or they just tell us too bad.

If you can find and change the window key in bios file, the problem can be solved.
