Sunset approaches quicker and quicker now. So against my better judgement, I decided to build another computer in semi-darkness last night and hooked up the USB case wire connector to the motherboard backwards. I didn't realize it was backwards at the time.
I put in an old USB key to test and it started glowing orange. Windows said it couldn't something about the USB key being bad.
Now today, with some daylight, I went to test the USB key and when I removed the protective cover, I could smell burnt electronics. Now that I look through the plastic case, I can see something burnt.
It is only a 64MB key, but I have had it for about 7 or 8 years and it has been rock solid.
I'll probably take it apart for learning purposes.
