Battery resistance measurement with cap ESR meter

Hello, I have ESR70 and this schematic was sent to me.

1.Can I use some non electrolytic cap so connection polarity does not matter?

2.What cap would be best? super low ESR and small size would fit in standart RCA JACK?

    3.Is resistor needed, why?

4.Anyone compared such measurements with proper meter for battery internal resistance?

Where did you find this information from can you please post the website link to this information request
    thanks

Because I tried to search for this information but could not find anything

If you could provide me with this information I might be able to answer your question

These two repairs where found with a ESR meter...> Temp at 50*F then at 90*F the ESR reading more than 10%

1 Over Head Crane Current Sensing Board ( VFD Failure Five Years Later )
2 Hem Saw Computer Stack Board

All of these had CAPs POOF
All of the mosfet that are taken out by bad caps

Re: Battery resistance measurement with cap ESR meter

You should use a cap as small as possible that has a very low ESR, ideally much lower than of the battery. A plastic capacitor will work if you can find one that has low ESR at the frequency your meter tests at.
The resistor is to equalize the jig to prevent the meter from damage or deal with dc offset.

I have heard about this way of testing ESR of batteries before but I have never seen anything about how to do this and how to interpret the results

Do you by any chance know about how this is done and how you interpret the results

If so could you please explain how this is done thanks
