    Threadmill Motor Control Board

I have a Proform CX450 which I have had for a while but never really used it.
Recently I attempted to use it and it blows the mains fuse.

So I have opened the lids and have had a look at the PCB, I cant see anything bad on the PCB.

    eg.
I replace the fuse and power the unit on
THe unit powers on and the display comes on.

I press the green button to go and the machine attempts to turn but then stops.
as it stops it blows a fuse.

I replace the fuse but this time leave the motor + lead unplugged.
and then press the green button. The threadmill looks like its working eg the incline motor works and the speed goes up.

The motor doesnt turn as its unplugged.

    Where is the fault?

Check the tread belt is not stuck to the base.
Can you turn the motor by hand - does it turn the walk belt.
Have you tried to power the motor with 24v from a power tool battery
lorry battery or two car batteries.
          Have you tried anything?
Picture of the Power supply - does that work correctly - led lights light up?
Any error code on the information panel?
Picture of the label on the motor

Hi I have checked the following
            - Belt is not stuck to the base.
            - When I walk on the thread mill the belt and it rotates freely.
            - No error codes on the control panel,
            - The PCB has a little red light on.
            - If I press the green go button it just blows the external fuse.

I have not attempted to power the motor with two battery's in 24dcv, I can try tho!

I have tried the additional diags,
if I unplug the + lead of the motor from the pcb and press the green button the display panel shows it runs. I can adjust the power / speed and use the tilt motor.

I am not sure where the power supply is.

I had a previous fault under warranty and the manufacture replace the motor and PCB. I have two PCB's bot have the same issue.

Seems to be more info about on this machine.
Someone has reverse engineered a schematic - I dont know for certain it is good
but people have said it helped them.

Also a picture of the board rev4 which might be useful

I will just add stuff as I find it.

maybe connect the motor with a light bulb in series.
if the speed control varies the brightness, the motor is the problem.
i wonder if it uses brushes.

The motor drive section is about the same topology as the MC70.
                  Your motor looks like this?

                    Re: Threadmill Motor Control Board

I am not sure how to plug a lightbulb in as well as the motor!
Thanks for the diagram, but it means very little to me..
but if someone wants to instruct me, I am pretty good at following instructions.

The motor looks similar, I have taken a picture of my motor

What annoys me is the machine has had so little use,
I am talking maybe 100 hours use in its entire life!

                    Thanks guys

from what I have read the R4 board has an inbuilt psu, whilst the others have an external psu source.

Ok so if you follow the wires back from ACHot and ACNeut do they just go to the on/off switch
                        or to another board?

I will just note here the motor is 130volts DC

I think he means as in attached (happy to be corrected) Just get a bulb holder
(inspection lamp?/ bedside light? ) put in an old type filament bulb - not led or
power saver cfl and connect one lead to the lead from the motor that goes to A+ and the other to the A+ connector. When you switch on the bulb will take some power away from the motor and it may run slowly - as (if) it speeds up then the bulb will dim. If the motor is faulty the bulb will just stay bright.

Just use this for a short test.

that's it - a very fast test to see if the motor is shorted/stalled.

                                  Followed the wires

It looks like from the mains kettle lead plug
one wire which is the + goes to a breaker, the wire from the breaker goes to an EMI Filter.

The - wire goes straight from the kettle lead plug to the EMI Filter.

at one side of the EMI Filter I assume the insert side it has another wire, looks like a green and yellow wire. This is probably the earth wire.

Now at the opposite end of the EMI filter we have two outgoing wires. These one wire goes straight to the motor, the other wire plugs into AC NET.

I could try that bulb thing but I will need to go buy a bulb holder and lead.
