So the transistors that shorted out are in the left channel that you have problem with in 2010?
If you are brave enough now since the lamp has not gone full bright on you so far. You can connect it directly to the AC outlets and play some low level music to it to see if it will hold up, I have no more suggestion at this point unless someone else would want to chime in and suggest otherwise.
It probably was. From memory, I vaguely remember it being a dry joint.
I mean i could try it. Low level. It worked the other day but obviously blew fuse.
Can't The lamp stay connected?
You can have the lamp stays connected but when you play it loud the lamp will get bright so less AC will be feeding the amp, but you can try and see if the amp will break down, you can play low level music for now just to test.
Had it running half volume today for some Time.
Perhaps the melted bias potentiometer caused by the overheating emitter resisters or the fact that I didn't secure the aluminium rail down onto the power transistors may have caused the first replacement set to fail.
This set appear to be holding up.
Time will tell..
