Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi Folks

Looks like a good forum to be part of. I'm into telecoms, IT, AV, sound systems and electronics. Specialise in tube technology amps used in music industry, nothing I can't do with them in terms of repair, modify or building.

Hope to have some good discussions and will help wherever I can, and always willing to learn something new something old.

    See you soon

Hello from the UK. I have recently changed 6 very leaky caps on my MSI motherboard. Not as easy as it looked, but now its done, no more BSofD. The pc is now running sweet and reliable. Hope to be of help, if possible, in the future. Regards, Tony.

            Hi All,

I'm working on a Viewsonic N2752w and 3752w. Any hints where I could obtain a service manual would be appreciated.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, but not new to capacitor replacement. I fixed an LCD monitor by replacing a single bad capacitor on the power board about a year ago, and just recently replaced a second one I found in a dumpster by replacing two. It's amazing how you can repair a device for just a couple bucks and a little bit of time and research. Now I'm about to do my first replacement on a motherboard. I just discovered that my 5 year old Asus P5AD2-E Premium has 3 bad caps around the CPU, so I'm ordering them tonite and will hopefully get it up and running next week.

Hello. I'm thrilled that I bumbled onto this board. Electronics and computers has been my hobby all my life but in the past 10 years I have been getting paid! It became a second career for me after 20 years as a chiropractor (still practicing part time). Anyway, I'm always getting dead monitors and repairing them, in fact the twin 20"ers in front of me I repaired and there is one apart on my workbench being tested. The one in test was fixed with a suggestion from this forum! So naturally I felt obligated to join and post what I did to fix it. Hope it helps someone else.
                    Cheers,
                    David

Hi all. I happened onto this forum whilst investigating faulty caps in Cisco 857 & 877 routers. I have been involved in electronics through my career in telecommunications and I still get quite thrilled by being able to fix what most other people can't. As I have found fixes for several faulty products that I own; this forum has already proved to be invaluable.

                      Thanks!!

                        hey all

                        new member here

i'm here because i'm a cheap skate and i love fixing stuff.

on mondays i often take a garbage/recycling walk in the nice neighborhood about a block away in my high-population density city. i've found a couple of computers, some nice framed art work, really nice place settings from crate and barrel and my most recent find: a busted 19" lcd flat screen. i replaced the caps in the power section and booya! i've now got a second monitor for $10 in caps and about 2 hours of googling and soldering.

                        that's my story

plant as a maintenance tech. They closed their doors 5 years ago and now I'm teaching Electronics/Electricity at a Technology Center in middle TN.
It's the last thing I ever thought I'd be doing. I hope to learn here, and contribute when I can.

Hello! Thanks for all the great information. I have an LG LCD TV power supply with a couple of Samxon caps that have bulging tops. I plan on using this repair as a father son bonding experience plus he is looking to snatch the repaired TV for his own use.

We don't have a great war in our generation, or a great depression, but we do, we have a great war of the spirit. We have a great revolution against the culture. The great depression is our lives. We have a spiritual depression.
