      I'm just a guy, late 20's, American...In america.

Not that there's anything of value to that statement, just the basics.

I fix things. I have been tearing things apart since I was about 8 or 9. First computer at 10...First 100% personal computer was at 13 and I've been learning ever since.

Started with Operating systems, Software, HTML...Branched into Hardware, Repair, fixing just about anything.

Spent some time over at M$ as a Tech Support agent on the DSL merger with Qwest and lots of craziness.

Lots of LCD screens lately, so easy. Just one cap on probably 50% of the units I crack open.

Found the forum through searching about an issue with an Acer widescreen, figured I'd fit right in. Maybe offer some of my experiences to help others as well as find answers to my own questions.

If you'd like to know anything else...I'll sum most of it up.

      I'm a father.
      I love my little Leah.
I do not believe in God.
I tend to speak my mind.
      I'm very honest.
I live in Craptown, Middle America.
      I love to fix things.
      I love computers.

Hello. I'm 26 and from Norway. Have general interests in computer software and hardware, but my main interest is in audio equipment and it's components.

At the moment I just got two 15 year old Rotel RB985 power amps that needs to be recapped.

Looking forward to use this forum and share knowledge with all of you.

                  Hello all,

I am a new member to badcaps.net forum with limited forum experience, but this one fits my immediate needs. I am an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with a side profession performing in local symphonies, pit orchestras and swing bands. "Music is my profession, engineering is my paycheck" is what I tell folks.

Lately I have been fixing MANY plasma and LCD TVs and monitors. So far it has been 100% power supplies - caps and diodes. If the future repairs keep to this level I may be a millionaire by the time I'm 65 (not a long walk from here).

I will always be looking for tips, tricks and good parts suppliers.

                  Cheers

Hello everyone, I just joined the forum. I live in Indiana. I've been in tv repair for about 35 years. Recently I've worked mostly on computers. I plan to retire in the near future, but I'll still have to fix my own gadgets. I hope to pick up some tips and maybe I can be of help sometime. It's a pleasure to be a part of the forum.

Hi, I found this site for repairing a tv/dvd combo that is acting up. Magnavox 19MD357B
Seems to be an excellent site for this type of repair. I have some experience with repair of some PC.

Hey guys! I've been reading these forums for assistance with my recapping needs for some time now. I've finally decided to register to learn more as well as contribute.

My name is Klaus, I like in Fairbanks Alaska. I currently am self employed as a computer tech, I've got a few solid client/businesses around town. I've been doing this for a little over 2 years under my own business but have been "Teching" since I was 13. Have been professionally doing it for over 5 years now.

I've recapped well over 20 Dell SX280's, which is what got me in the door of recapping and I've moved on to tons of other motherboards, monitors and now starting to work on Power Supplies :|.

Hope to have some kick ass conversations with you guys!

Just joined up to get help with some problems. Plus, I hate not being able to see pictures in other threads! I have no formal training in electronics, just a bunch of hands on work attempting to fix things over years and a little bit of study on my own. I hope to learn even more here!

                                Hello everyone,

I am just an old technician that started in electronic repair professionally in 1964 in Dallas Texas.

Now retired and living waaay out in the sticks in the Florida Panhandle with no place local to get components.

My great granddaughter has a TV that has quit working and it appears to be a signal problem but I seem to have fallen by the wayside as far as keeping up with digital electronics.

This looks like a great board for resources for us oldtimers who grew up with vacuum tubes to catch up with today's technology.

                                  Hello,
I am Macmonkey and I am pleased to join this group of smart, funny and kind folks. I found this site while researching a problem with a clock controller that goes dim when it is exposed to heat. Since it is part of an oven, it is dim a lot.

I appreciate your wit and knowledge and I am looking forward to learning more about caps. I have very little electronics training, but I like to learn.

                                      Hello Et al,

This is Rojosho and I am new to the BadCaps org. I have to say that I am just amazed as to what you can find on the internet these days... a website dedicated to helping troubleshooters fault isolate and component replacement. I have a teenager who I would like to perform some brain surgery, anyone know of any sites that teach brain surgery? Trial and error is OK

Anyway, I am pleased to have found this site and join in on the fun.

                                          Hi everybody
Well I'm a late starter at everything it seems. I worked in factory maintenance for many years. I live in Westmeath Ireland The factory closed down and I am now studying to become an IT Support Specialist at 60 years of age. I hope to get a CompTIA A+ certificate next year. I found your forum by chance while looking for info on a dead Octigen MA9CKA flat screen monitor that i am trying to restore. I found a wonderful thread posted by member TMCW and friends. I hope to follow the instructions to get the monitor up and running.
