Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi, my name is Brian... I like to tinker and create things; tube guitar amps got me started, now like to fix and learn everything I can pull out of the trash or build from scratch....

Hi, Sean from Tucson, Arizona. I work in Telecommunications. I build custom speaker/pa/guitar/subwoofer cabinets, as well as fiberglass fabrication. Tinker with stuff I probably shouldn't. I got my first tube amp shock when I was about 13, and I've been hooked ever since. I found this site (during maintenance) when my plasma TV stopped working.

      Thanks for havin' me here!

Howdy! I think I have caught the repair bug, as I am on my 5th or 6th TV and just found this forum. Currently repairing a Samsung LNT3242HX/XAA, and already replaced the caps on the power board BN44-00155a. TV powers up, makes it's boot tone, and backlight comes on momentarily, a semi-noisy buzz in the inverter board, then blackness. I can see the power board is working because the optical audio port has light behind it and LED on the front of tv stays on. I am leaning towards ordering the inverter board - I315B1-16A, but reading here to diagnose better. Thanks for this amazing resource all!

Another from the shadows. What a great forum! First hands on experience with the wonders of electricity was sticking a penny in a light socket when I was about 3 years old. It was an electrifying experience and I've been charred, uh, I mean charged about electronics ever since.

Hi, I am RyanC as you may have guessed. From small town Rock Hill, SC. Background in Industrial Electricity, Commercial, etc. Also HVAC technician turned manual milling and lathe machinist as well as try to do it all maintenance person (who would have guessed) but I still enjoy my roots in the electrical world, as well as the dabbling in computer science. I also attempt minor repairs to televisions and things of the like. Im usually successful in my diagnosis, but not always. Its interesting reading threads and learning the pcb world and its many complexities.

Hi, rs1n here -- found this site as a result of finding my old Abit BP6 system in my parents' garage. When I first bought it, I had to replace the EC10 cap and used two 1000uF caps in parallel (someone suggested on some old forum way back in the day to use 2000uF there). After digging up the old system and throwing out a bad stick of RAM (256MB), I decided to redo the EC10 cap. I had thought about recapping my board, but after only modifying the EC10 cap, the system appears to be stable with 2x366@550. Anyway, I am hoping to find out about the things people have done insofar as tinkering/modifying this board is concerned.

Hi, my name is Luca and I found this site trying to learn more about capacitors since I have decided to revive my old motherboard.

I have some experience soldering SMD components and chips and other stuff as I used to do that for work almost every day a few years ago.

I hope I learn a lot because I really like playing with electronics!

Hi, I'm Craig. Got a free 46" 42LG70 (dead 5VSB) on Kijiji and caught the repair bug now. I have a background/experience/education in electronics (manufacturing and design - thanks Nortel!) and love the troubleshooting/problem solving aspect. Look forward to contributing any way I can.
Due to recent budget cuts and energy efficiency requirements, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

I came here to find answers for my LG 60PZ570 television problems. I'm Finnish, 29 and my older son just started a school. This seems a very interesting web forum, never seen any like this.

                                      Hi guys!

Just came across this forum. I'm servicing different equipment all my life. Both dirty and clean things..meaning from airplanes to medical equipment.
Practical problem was that I didn't get deeper in any field. I have general knowledge of mostly everything but sadly I am not specialist in any field.
I Know how to use tools, how to solder, how to use hamer as well
And btw English is not my native language so excuse my gramatical errors.
                                      Anyway, hi!
