HP ProBook 640 G4 BIOS request

    Hello,

Can I please have a clean, fresh BIOS for HP ProBook 640 G4?

    SN: 5CG9260GK2

It is the version with 8th gen i5.

Symptoms: powers on, no display, fan at full blast.

Attached is the old BIOS and a new one found on the internet.

Re: HP ProBook 640 G4 BIOS request

Try cleaning the ME firmware first in your original bios backup. If its only that thats coruupt then its an easy fix ,plus you won`t lose any DMI info.If you use a bios from another machine then you`ll have to change your DMI using the hp DMI tools. Also there`s no point posting a bios "found on the internet" unless its a known working one with clean ME FW, and the correct bios version. This model has 2 different bios versions, Q83 and Q77 ,you should open your bios with a hex editor and find out which one you have by using the hex editors text search function .

      Try and report back.

As SMDFlea mentioned, use your original BIOS. Use your original 16Mb dump and the attached 32Mb cleanME.

          Hello,

I have followed your advice and used the original BIOS and now it works.

Only one error: The MUD from the embeded controller is different than the MUD in the BIOS.

That is what it says upon powering up.

Your 32MB backup was corrupt. Try this bios .If there`s any more error messages try and update the bios with the one at the support site .

Re: HP ProBook 640 G4 BIOS request

just installed Windows and sone all updates, and after 2nd restart, the BIOS was automatically updated to version: 01.10.00

Also, it updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware.

                      Updated CCG5 aswell.

                      PEIA Region also updated.

                      USB-C Controller Firmware updated.

All of the above happened after Windows updates.

After all of that, it bluescreened with kbdclass.sys error
Then bluescreened again with some kernel error.

The initial error is now gone and the laptop has now booted to Windows with USB and trackpad not working....
