820-00165A power button not working + RTC problem

    Hi,

I have here a Macbook Air with the 820-00165A board inside. There was some liquid spilled on it and it has been to a repair shop that said they cleaned it and that didn't fix the problem.
I am looking at it now and there are 2 issues with it. After the spill, the original user was unable boot OSX, it would hang during boot. Also there was an issue with the date, it was showing a date/time in the past. After the cleaning by the repair shop, the system no longer powers up using the power button.
However, it does still start when the adapter is attached.
I now installed Linux on an external HDD (USB) and with Linux it boots and runs fine, except that the date is set back to Jan 1, 2019 after each boot. Even after a warm restart (init 6).

I took the board out and did some measurements with just the battery connected. The board does not start with the power button, also not when shorting the R5115/R5116 pads (without the keyboard attached).

    SMC_ONOFF_L 3,40V ok
    SMC_LID 3,40V ok
    SMC_ADAPTER_EN 0V ok
    SMC_RESET_L 3,37V ok
    SMC_LSOC_RST_L 3,39V ok
    PPVRTC_G3H 3,40V ok
    PM_BATLOW_L 0V (ok, because no PP3V3_S5?
    PM_PWRBTN_L 0V (ok, because no PP3V3_S5?

I also check the PCH_CLK32K_RTCX1 signal with a multimeter, it looks like there is a clock signal.

The board looks clean, there is no obvious corrosion visible anywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestion what else I could look at?

    Thanks

You have to take the measurements with AC adapter connected and battery disconnected.
    Voltage on PPBUS_G3H, PPVRTC_G3H, PM_PWRBTN_L, RTC_RESET_L, PCH_SRTCRST_L especially.

      Thanks for your help.

When I attach the adapter the board will power-on, so I measured the signals with the board running. They seem to be ok:

      PPBUS_G3H 8,58V
      PPVRTC_G3H 3,33V
      PM_PWRBTN_L 3,40V
      RTC_RESET_L 3,32V
      PCH_SRTCRST_L 3,32V

Did you try another known working keyboard?
