I got a .rom file up but I can't figure out how to get the .bin file since the fptw isn't working on my platform

The .rom and .bin extensions are just an indication of the type of file, a file with .rom extension may be exactly the same as a .bin file.
Upload your .rom file and we’ll see.
Did you use a BIOS chip programmer to obtain your .rom file?
This thread is for “Surface Pro 3”, in which the password can be recovered; “Surface Book 2” is different, the UEFI variable module needs to be edited to invalidate the password.

Yes I've seen that, if in any case someone can help decode for my Surface Book 2 would be nice, I used a software to get it something similar to fptw64

Can I use a Raspberry Pi or Arduino I don't have a programmer, any link to where I can get one also how to extract it with it?

Yes, I almost always use raspberry pi for that.

This is really frustrating, it's kinda really tricky to disassemble the Surface Book 2, Is there really no way of finding the password from the rom.

I extracted this report from the file.

Finding is not the problem. Deleting or decrypting is the issue here. We can find and decrypt surface 3 password because it uses a non-existent (easy to decrypt basically using a Windows calculator) encryption. Not the case with newer models. So, disassemble it is because writing is not possible with fptw.

Can anyone help with what my SP3 password is? I tried getting it from https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...&postcount=139 but doesn't seem right to me and can't get the password to work.

I used ME System Tools v9.5 r6

fptw64 -BIOS -D SP3.bin

Password is case-sensitive:
password = MSSp3TaB

Thank you for your help with the first one it worked for 3 out of the 4 I got from Ebay.

Sorry to be a burden but could someone help me with the Bios Password for the last one as MSSp3TaB didn't work.

The password in second BIOS.zip file is exactly the same as the one in backup.rar file... "MSSp3TaB".

Hmm... that's so weird I've triple checked the capitals and entered it a few times and it's not accepting it, I redumped and attached the BIOS to be sure, but do you have any idea on what could be causing it?

Same password in BiosBackup.rar file, so I suggest to use an external USB keyboard and see if that makes a difference.

I've tried this with the following: SP TypeCover Keyboard / External USB Keyboard and the On screen BIOS keyboard and all are showing the password as incorrect.

Any other suggestions, or will I have to take the screen off to take the CMOS battery out.
