(Multiple Spark Discharge) MSD 6AL Q204 required

    Hi,

Am after the part number for this unit used in an old Ford Capri for boosting spark ignition.

Unit is MSD6AL and Q204 is the damaged part.
If I can figure out at least if it is a Mosfet type or Bipolar Transistor like MJE3055T as used in older Models.

    Any help appreciated!

I think it is a N Channel Mosfet as marked with Mitsubishi Logo and starts with
      FS7........
      FS70KM-2 VDss 100v, Id 70A looks a good contender.

According to Transformer thick windings that is switched solely from this Q240, 70A seems reasonable.
This winding is 1 side 12v and the other switchable by Q240 so 100v is also in range.

      What do you think?

From another MSD 6AL repair blurb:

TC4627 has voltage-doubler 2.2uF tantalum caps that fail.
        BUP213 IGBT 1,200V 32A or IRG4PH40K
FS70KM or IRF1010E if you add insulator.

        FS70KM-02 is 100V 70A 20mR
        FS70KM-06 is 60V 70A 7.5mR
        IRF1010E is 60V 84A 12mR

Plastic TO-220 fullpack aren't great at getting rid of heat. The 1N5244A zener apparently can go too if the mosfet shorts.
Higher voltage mosfets have higher RDS on, which will make them run hotter.

Accidental slip of the hand caused a spark on Capacitor. Is my PANEL killed in action?
            by Axis937
Hi folks, newbie here. My intention on a working monitor was to test for voltages on the various pins. Somewhere near the ribbon to the monitor, there we 2 caps. One was reading around 5V and the other was maybe about 12 or 14V . Cant really recall. Then it happened. The multimeter kissed the 5v cap and the other cap. Spark appeared. NOW... the part where the spark happened ( Caps near the Last ribbon cable ) is now totally white. 1/6 part of the screen is white. From my little understanding , i came to learn that there are transistors inside the TFT panel. Could that be a issue then? I have removed...

            Making a capacitor discharge tool
            by redwire
I'm making a new capacitor discharge tool. Asking for suggestions for sizing the discharge resistor.
Mr. Carlson's Lab High Voltage Capacitor Discharge Tool 1 is using 4 of 1kΩ 50W aluminum (mount to heatsink) resistors in series for 4kΩ 200W, so it's big, which is fine.
His Patreon but I don't have a paid subscription for the project details but it looks straightforward. The plastic box with aluminum plate can't get rid of any amount of that heat though.
Wirewound resistors can be overloaded by a factor of 5 for 5sec. and a factor of 10 for brief times. I've never tried say...

Have to turn C1 on and off multiple times for it to fully come on

Have to run LG C1 on multiple times for it to fully work

If I have it off for a while I have to turn the TV on and off and handful of times for it actually display what it's suppose. The times it doesn't nothing comes up like the input or dobly vision logo. Once it's on I can turn it off and back on fine and the picture looks perfect.

Unhooked everything except antenna. Reset tv to factory settings. Let it sit and when I tried 2hrs later turned TV on and sound comes through but no picture....
