Apple IIgs RGB Color Monitor (A2M6014x)

    Hi All,

I have an Apple IIgs RGB Monitor on the bench for repair that I am struggling to get working again. This is a 240v Australian Delivered model. I found the monitor at a local boot sale, seller was unable to provide any details if it worked or used to work etc.

Initial inspection revealed a blown 5 Watt wire wound resistor directly after the rectifier. I replaced the 5 watt resistor at the same time checked ESR on capacitors and replaced only those on primary side of power supply.
I happened to have a voltage regulator (STR54041) on hand so replaced this as well. Diodes / Resistors checking OK, I did find a Suspect 2SC1213 and used a BC337 as replacement whilst waiting on correct parts to arrive.

The monitor straight away blows the 5W resistor (R901), no smoke or failure - just goes open circuit.

At this point I have B+ isolated from the board and just using lightbulb for dummy load (Jumper B4 Disconnected from chassis).

The second time while running up on a variac - everything seemed OK till around the 200v mark when the Resistor failed open again. I could see the B+
was running a bit high around 128v but this was coming down as I increased the voltage on variac. (According to schema should be arround 115v)

Looking for any and all advice.
    Thanks

See R901 (5 Watt Resistor) highlighted in attachment.

i hope you have a dummy load on B+ like a 40w lamp.

pull J22 and see what happens - just to eliminate the possibility of an intermittent short in the primary capacitor.

Was that C1213 really bad or just suspect? And make sure that you installed it right because the pinouts are different?

The "Version 1" circuit seems somewhat wrong IMHO, BTW.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Apple Watch Charging Controller Schematics / Boardview - 820-02601
        by a_p3rson
        Hi there,

I'm looking for anyone who might have information on Apple's embedded Apple Watch charging daughterboard, ID 820-02601. This is currently used by Anker in their Apple Watch charging products, but likely by other Apple partner brands as well.

You can see the board referenced in ChargerLab's teardown of the Anker Y1811 3-in-1 MagSafe cube - they discuss the "Apple Watch wireless charging circuit" about 2/3rds down the page. It's not pictured, but the board ID reads 820-02601-A, which sure sounds like Apple.
        This daughterboard uses an interesting...

Look for the resistor value in the BenQ G922HDAL monitor's power supply
        by Safrilhg
Hello guys, I had a problem where I didn't know the value of the burnt SMD resistor in the power supply circuit of the BenQ G922HDAL monitor.

In one of the parts, there is a burnt SMD resistor which leads to the LD7560GS IC as shown in the picture below.

How to determine the appropriate SMD resistor value for this condition? Thank You...

EIZO SW3031W monitor blue color instead of black
        by valscu
        Hello,
I have an Eizo SX3031W monitor and after a period i had problems with the tcon board. I did reflow, it went well for a while after but the problems appeared again. The second reflow attempt was a failure, the tcon board stopped working. In the meantime, I bought a perfectly functional Samsung 305T monitor from which I took the tcon board and installed it in the Eizo monitor. Since I turned on the monitor, the blue color appeared in the background instead of black. And also in Windows, appears blue instead of black. I tried various settings from the monitor and driver settings but...

        AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
        by wattage
        Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...
