Referring to my earlier post in the subject few months earlier, I share how I could solve the EEPROM issue, which might be also usable
if anyone runs into this kind of situation.
In a nutshell: I got an AUO B156HTN03.8 HW:6B FW:1 panel, however it was not working (only backlight). It figured, that the EEPROM FW image
was damaged in 3 offsets (0x0, 0x100, 0x200), at each locations ca. 10-15 bytes were overwritten with garbage data. First 128 bytes of the
FW is the EDID, and the rest of the 4096 Bytes is the misc/timing(?) data for this panel.
I could only find a similar full FW for the panel (same model, but HW:0A FW:1 @SMDFLEA thanks!) with different EDID data, however the
timing/FW data part was very similar (only 7 bytes differences).
The correct EDID for my panel is on Github (linuxhw/EDID) and used that as the first 256 bytes for the corrected FW.
I copied the missing data at offsets 0x100, 0x200 from the similar panel FW correcting the bad one. However, that was not sufficient.
Eventually figured out, that the data at offsets 0x103-0x107 are EDID style 256 bit (MOD_256) checksums corresponding to parts of the FW.
0x103-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x200-0x2ff
0x104-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x300-0x3ff
0x104-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x400-0x4ff
0x105-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x500-0x5ff
0x106-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x600-0x6ff
0x107-> 1 byte checksum for data in offsets 0x700-0x7ff
So, I only needed to correct the 0x103 and 0x104 checksums, where the timing data for the two panels differed, and voila, it works using both
preferred timing modes (60Hz and 40Hz).
I attach as a reference the corrected FW. This method applies to AUO FW only, but might be used with other vendors' panel with apropriate adaptation.

Attached is a dump from a lenovo W510 and a B156RW01 datasheet. The lenovo dump might be different to the standard one. You can make a standard dump from the datasheets EDID description on page 33 and 34. With a hex editor just type everything in the 2 green vertical columns into a new file.Copy the 128bytes FF`s from the end of the W510 dump or type all FF`s to make it up to 256bytes.

If the screen is eDP then you will have to desolder the chip or solder wires to it,and jumper the WP pin to ground. If its LVDS you can do the same or buy a dedicated programming cable or make your own,see post #6.You will also need a programmer.
