I did use a small clamp with rubber ends to clamp the board to the table to hold it in place. I clamped it over the power connector where the power cord plugs in. I don't know why that would have made a difference.
    My post #54:
You can do the force on test without the resistor, I suggest to use resistor in case you make wrong connection that can cause damage to the circuit, so if you perform the connection correctly for sure then you can do without using resistor, so inspect real well on how you have the PS-ON and 5V/3.3 pins connected together, I would solder one wire to each pin then you can connect the end of the wires together after powering up then wait about 5 seconds before connecting the two ends of the wire together to simulate power on condition.

Did you follow that instruction to wait 5 seconds before connecting the PS-ON to 5V/3.3V pin?

Yes I did. The resistor blew when I connected the power cord to power, before I had a chance to connect PS-ON to 5V/3.3V.

Something changed then because without force on there will be no switched VCC to feed the PFC circuit, and we also remove the jumper for the VCC that feeds the 12V/24V SMPS IC.

So when the R9114 was not blown up when in standby, the original diode was installed correct?
I like to see the new pictures of the location of where R9114 is, we need to do some resistance testing to see if that AUX power supply section is seeing shorted load or not.

The original diode was not installed when in standby. I replaced the diode and the resistor at the same time.

So is the diode you install the Fast Recovery diode as it has to be?
            What did you put in?

This is the diode that Digi-Key crossed the old one to....1N4007FFGOSCT-ND.....DIODE GEN PURP 1KV 1A DO41.

budm, do you know if a power supply board for a M75-C1 will work in this M65-C1? I know the power connector is different but I could swap the power connectors if everything else is the same. They look the same visually.

You cannot use general purpose diode in that section, it is too slow to turn off (stop conducting) when using in high frequency circuit. You need to get the correct type for it as I already explained before. I hope no new component gets damaged.

I do not know for sure, have to look at in full details and compare the pinout and Voltages.

I ordered the correct diodes and a couple more resistors. It will probably be middle of the week before I get them. Is it possible the diode that's on the board now (the wrong diode) could be causing the resistor to blow? I'm hoping that's the case. If not, what might be the next steps to repair this board? I really do appreciate your time and effort to help me.

OK, Tell me what you did when you first work on the power supply board.
You found blown R9114 so did you replace the blown resistor AND the diode you order from digi-key at the same time?

That is correct budm. I replaced them both at the same time. And, that diode came form Digi-Key and that's the diode you said was the wrong one.

But, that time the TV came on for a second before the resistor blew.

But thing is, the resistor did not blow when power is first applied to the TV so the standby power supply was running, the resistor blows when you hit power switch when you turn on the TV, once that resistor is blown the standby power supply will be dead. When you turn on the TV more current will flow through the resistor due to more loads are connected to the power supply.
Right now the resistor blow when it is in standby mode without forcing on so something has changed.
I thought you told me you put the old diode back in since it was tested good, so when you did that what happen?

No I didn't put the old diode back in because I saw a small crack on the end of it. I have the right diodes ordered this time so when they come in, probably middle of the week, I will install the correct diode as well a new resistor.

When you put in the new parts, put the jumper wire back in place, remove the force on wires.

Okay I will do that. I actually ordered the resistor that the guy used on the Frugal Repair video. If that's not the right resistor please let me know and I will try to change my order.

Hey budm, I just finished reattaching the jumper, installing the correct new diode and a new resistor. Now I have no power. You mentioned that the diode I had installed could cause something else to blow and I guess you were right, unfortunately. I can't believe Digi-Key cross referenced the wrong diode. Do you have any ideas what I can do now?

You mentioned that the diode I had installed could cause something else to blow and I guess you were right, unfortunately. I can't believe Digi-Key cross referenced the wrong diode. Do you have any ideas what I can do now?
So right now the new resistor did not blow the minute you apply AC to the power supply board, correct? and you are not getting standby Voltage either, correct? If that is the case we now have to troubleshoot the standby power supply section.

So what is the P/N of the new diode? we want to verify we get the correct one.

No, the new resistor did not blow when I connected the power. The led light on the main board is not even coming on now, neither flashing or solid.
The new diode part number is PR1007G-T. I got that number directly off the old diode.
