    Short on motherboard Gigabyte GA H97 Gaming

    Hi i have no power on the motherboard,when i switch on the pc and remove the cpu connector power plug and restart it the psu comes on but when i connect the cpu plug then the psu stops,could somebody please help me in the right direction where to look for problem

    Most likely the motherboard has a shorted MOSFET on the CPU VRM (probably an upper MOSFET.) Either that or something wrong with one or more of the MOSFET driver(s).

    Of course, before doing anything, first remove the CPU and check for bad pins in the CPU socket. If none, keep CPU off the motherboard and perform following test with multimeter (with PSU disconnected and unplugged from motherboard): put positive (+) multimeter probe on 4/8-pin CPU connector (12V rail) and put negative (-) multimeter probe on a ground screw. What resistance do you get?

      what resistance must have
      this tip is for all motherboards ?
      i think buying cpu dummy load tester, is any use?
