    Blew Fuse on my GPS

Fellas, Long time... I was trying to hard wire my navman ICN520 to my car, anyway I think I blew a fuse or something inside the unit or something. I stupidly cut the cigaret lighter adaptar cable in half and found 3 wires inside, Red, Black and White. So I used a ATX power supply and connected the Red and Black wire to the Yellow and Black on the power supply and it powered on for a second but then shorted and now the GPS although works it wont charge anymore.

Can I fix it? I opened it up, not sure were the fuse is?

Okay, So I opened it up andon the Battery Pack there is 3 identical wires, Red, Black and White (Sensor). So assuming some micro transistor or something got fried that disabled the charging mechanism, Could I splice the 3 wires in the battery pack and then connect them directly to the Red, Black & White wires coming of the active power source(cigarette lighter)?

Would that also charge the battery itself or will it blow up? Then do I need to cut off the battery pack entirely from the connector and then splice the wires to it?

It will blow up, the Li-ion must be charged very carefully with real good charging current and voltage controller. Is the battery pack 3.6V?

Yea, its around 3.6V. so any other ides / fixes for it? anyway i can repair its recharging mechanism or should i cut off the battery from the connector and hardwire the wires to the car power adapter that takes 12v and converts to 3.6v output??

the cigarette cord likely provided +5 to run and current limited 4.2v to charge.

How? everything inside is miniature and solid state. So no caps. Do I have a chance at repairing this or should I cut off the cable connector coming out of the battery and connect the identical wires coming out of the cigarette cord?

There are many caps inside the units. There is lore likely and IC for the Li-ON Charging circuits. Not likely that you will be able to repair the charging circuits.
MAXIM makes a lot of Li-on charging IC. You can learn more by Google LI-ION Charging. You can easily blow up the batteries and make nice big fire if you are not careful.
