    Surprised someone still remembers that It's pretty much just sat there this whole time, close to how the original discussions left it, still waiting for me to wire it all up So much to do, so little time.....

      I had a big UPS come into the shop, it was dead. I think 3,000VA. Connected 4 car batteries for 48V and I started probing around following power, when all of a sudden a connection arced loud when I poked it. The entire shop heard it, freaked out techs ran out, they were scared it was going to blow up or something. It was kind of funny. All it was is a factory cold solder joint on a wire terminal block.

      Go and use what you got, try the variac, I think the voltage will be too mushy to work.
      So I would instead get the DPS5020 running...
