    MSI RX 590 8gb armor

    Hello everyone !
I'm trying to fix a dead RX 590 from MSI.

    I found 2 dead part :
    - a 220nF capacitor (C119) on the pci-e line who blew up.
    - IC driver CHL 8510 (U4) picture attached

I changed the capacitor C119 picture attached

I can't desolder the IC Driver with my rework station, event blowing at 450°c. The tin doesn't seem to melt, I don't understand.

Is there a world that the chip fuse with the PCB ?
How can I safely remove the chip ?

    And for remplacement, I can't find the reference 8510 657-11 n1813
I'm finding only other reference of 8510 chip

Would it be an issue to put another reference of IC 8510 ?

    Thanks

Very good possibility it cratered the underside into the PCB.
Usually when you struggle with chips like that which refuse to let go that is the case.

Here is the datasheet, they also have a different part number:

There are tons of them avail on Aliexpress.

Re: MSI RX 590 8gb armor

Hey thanks for the answer !
I manage to remove and change the CHL 8510 driver !
Lucky, I saw no damage under the IC .

But I'm not having any sign of life : the GPU stay cold, no fans spinning on the GPU.

I checked for shorts on PCI lane 12v and 3.3v and found no shorts.

I checked my coil pin and I haven't found any shorts there neither: 0.9 ohm on each pin to ground, which is fine from what I read.

I checked my fuse (found 2) and are good.

I checked the "big" Smt ceramic capacitor and found no shorts.

      I check my 2 pci-e 8 pin connectors :

      On the left one,
I have 12ohm resistance from 12v to ground.
I've put 12 to check if something get hot because I was thinking that I had a short there. No heat and after new measurement, I had 72 ohms between 12v and ground. I put again 12v and the resistance is now 12 ohms.

      On the right one,
I have 230 ohms from 12v to ground

      I don't know if it's good/normal

Any tips to continue to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated !
      Thanks

        Road Maps Voltage for RX
        12v => 1.8v => 0.9v (uP9505) => 1.35-1.5v (vRam) => 1.01-1.1v (vBoot) => 0.9-1.05v (vCore)

Check, follow road maps you can known u need rework some things.
U need buy or request Boardview on forum to make it easy!
        PC work for schemaltic:
        Mainboard: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4
        CPU: I3-3240
        Ram: 16Gb
Graphic Card: GTX 1050Ti zotac 4Gb Mini
        SSD: 120Gb
        HDD: 2Tb
