Dell Precision T1650 USB UEFI Booting BSOD 0xc00021a

I'm stumped with this one; it was a dropoff freebie. Blank hard drive, uefi/gpt booting from USB to install OS, never gets to installer startup screen.... Win10 21H2 BSOD with stopcode 0xc000021a. BIOS settings are what they should be; legacy boot off, secureboot off. Firmware updated to latest version (A28).

It will UEFI boot & install mint 21 just fine. Will also legacy boot & install win7 and win10 just fine as well...just won't USB UEFI boot to the 10 installer...no clue as to why!

    System: Precision T1650
    CPU: Xeon E3-1220V2
    RAM: 16GB PC3-10600U
    SSD: 240gb Kingston
    GPU Quadro 600

I'd say about the same as stj - corrupted setup files causing the BSOD.

Did you build the USB using Rufus? I remember a friend of mine having the same issue and it was caused by Rufus.

Yes it was RUFUS. Media works fine on other systems. Kind of weird.... The T1650 is an older system....not sure what driver would be missing....and then consider that it'll boot legacy just fine.

It doesn't matter if legacy or (U)EFI. Rufus happens to corrupt the drives sometimes, out of nowhere. I personally saw two sticks do this - both were done with same OS (10 Enterprise IoT LTSC) and both crashed on me with the 0xc00021a error.

Interesting. I'll try recreating them just for giggles.

I use WoeUSB-ng on *nix to create Windows USBs. Haven't had a problem using that piece of software yet.
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

My computer doubles as a space heater.

              Permanently Retired Systems:
RIP Advantech UNO-3072LA (2008-2021) - Decommissioned and taken out of service permanently due to lack of software support for it. Not very likely to ever be recommissioned again.
Asus Q550LF (Old main laptop, 2014-2022) - Decommissioned and stripped due to a myriad of problems, the main battery bloating being the final nail in the coffin.

I think STJ is right, its some kind of driver issue....just no idea what. It'll boot fine off S2k19 and S2k22 or Win11 EFI media. Rewrote the older ones, still no bueno on this system, but other machines have no problem with them. At first I thought there was just something wrong with the machine... if CSM booting from USB, no problems at all, going all the way back to win7.
