    TP Link TL-SG1016PE

    Hello,

    After a recent storm I have a TL-SG1016PE switch that wont power on. This switch has a separate power board from the actual network switch board. There is no voltage at the leads that go from the power board to the switch board.

    All the components look good except for 1. There is a component on the board labeled R15 that is burnt. I've been looking to identify this resistor as a start and have had no luck to date. Any pointers would be appreciated.

    is the fuse good, is RV1 shorted?
    and check the parts mounted on the heatsink on that side

      RV1 is good

      F1 seems to be shorted

      The rest appears to be good.

      So F1 is a start but R15 is a concern as it's melted and I don't know what it's replacement is.

        f1 is supposed to be shorted,
        RV1 shouldnt give any reading.
        R15 melted because something it feeds shorted-out
        probably on the heatsink

            D16 is good.

            So far... just F1

            and R15 (melted) but still returns a resistance value when measured. (9.17 ohms)

              You need to find the switching power supply regulator ic chip there should be a low value capacitor or capacitors near check with a ESR meter if you do not have a replace them see if powers on or not

              These two repairs where found with a ESR meter...> Temp at 50*F then at 90*F the ESR reading more than 10%

              1 Over Head Crane Current Sensing Board ( VFD Failure Five Years Later )
              2 Hem Saw Computer Stack Board

              All of these had CAPs POOF
              All of the mosfet that are taken out by bad caps

                That's too high.
                This is the current-sense resistor for the primary-side APFC MOSFET (Q1). Typical values are less than 2 Ohms and often sub-1 Ohms. So at 9.17 Ohms, it's definitely bad. I suspect you will find the Q1 to be bad (shorted Drain to Source pins) as well. And if more unlucky, this could have taken out U1 too.

                But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Remove R15 and check Q1 in circuit.

                Also, since this is an APFC PSU, you may want to check the two input HV electrolytic caps for a short-circuit across them.

                  R15 is labeled (or what's left) , R from the left , and that means it's in the range between 0,1 to 0,9 ohms ..From its size , it's a 2 watts resistor .
                  When you finish testing all the probable faulty components around , you can try with a value and label like for an example R200 (0.2 ohms) , and if you have a variac ,it's better to use while testing .
