I saw this and I did a swap and I had the same thing happened to me. Look at Apple now making LCDs serialized. Of course they would.

the chinese sell a handheld eeprom cloner to fix this problem on phones - maybe they will do one for laptops

Hopefully so. We just discovered this after swapping and selling off our old LCD. Kind of sucks
