yes, an SPI programmer must be physically removed for writing and reading.

Hi @tronsdal, Did you eventually solve the problem with your ZBook15G2? I have one which was working fine but, after replacing a rattling fan, now shows the same symptoms that you describe. I've tried reflashing the BIOS to various supposedly good ones obtained from this forum, but with no difference in symptoms. I wonder if there is another eeprom (eg a W25Q16V for the embedded controller) on this motherboard that might have become corrupted and that can be reflashed?
