I have been noticing a trend that LCD monitors' model codes often end with "b", even other brands!

My observation is that B often means Black, and S meaning Silver.------------

Not always true. I have two Samsung units, one 171P which is Silver, and the other one is a 173S which is black. The 730B & 172N are Samsungs in color black but only the 730 has the B.Originally posted by sofTest
As you said, often, but every manufacturer name as they wish. An example are the Dell 171FPb... Free of Plumbum, which translates as Lead (Pb) free : it has the B but not for the above noted reason.

P - Platinum
S - Slate, Silver
B - Black, Beige
N - Night, Negro, Nero
I think they just put the letter there to make people wonder what it means.

On samsung, B suffix is usually have sync on green support.
