    Insignia NSL-42Q-10A no power!

    Hello
I have an Insignia NSL-42Q-10A LCD TV which doesn't turn on.It has the only the standby light on!
Out of all the output voltages, i only get the 5v standby which is normal i think, but when i press on the power button, nothing changes.i have the following output voltages
On/off --remains low.( by the way what's the purpose of this signal?)
    24V remains low.
    12V remains low.
    5V always high.
    PS_ON always low.
So clearly, the main board is not sending the Ps-On signal to turn all the voltages ON.I confirmed this by jumping the PS-on signal to the stand by pin, and all the output voltages went high expect the ON/Off signal.
I think that the mainboard is faulty, but just wanted to confirm that i'm on the right track and i'm open to your suggestions guys.
I have attached the service manual of the tv( the manual shows Haier brand, but it compatible 100% with my Tv.

    thank you guys

You are on the right track.
Please attach good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards so we can see what we are dealing with?

After visual inspection of the main board, i found some burnt out components, it was on the output side, but i don't know if its gonna be worth the time to fix it.
One thing, i want to do though, it track where the PS_ON signal is coming from!

You should also find out the reason why those components burned out. Until you replace the motherboard, turn on the power supply and see if the voltages are correct. Also check if you do not have a short supply of t-con.
P.S The power on voltage is given by the processor and which controls 1-2 transistors.

When force the Power supply to power on, by jumping the standby 5V pin to PS_ON pin.I get all the voltages (24V, 12V and 5V are all present).Furthermore, i tested almost all the diodes, Mosfets, transformers...on the PSU and they were all ok. At this point, i can confirm that the PSU is alright!
Clearly, The mainboard is the culprit.
like i said above, i ordered a replacement mainboard. Hopefully, this gonna fix the problem!

That's one of the few drawbacks for being Canadian lol

What is the history of the TV? I looks like it was hit by power surge due to lighting came through the inputs.

I bought this tv for 10$ from a guy on the internet, so i don't have any information about it!
As far as i can tell, the power supply did survive the surge!
Regarding the T-con board, i'm not sure yet, because it's hidden under a metallic cover, which i'm not willing to take apart for now.I'm gonna wait till i receive the mainboard. From my experience, most of the T-con boards are protected with an input fuse which can be replaced in case it goes bad.

Vancouver is cool and they have better average weather than where I live AND less pollution.

It is not.clear by the photos which are the connectors near the burnt things, have you tried to remove U212 after trying to read its marking and.see if it frees from shorts the board and start to work?

What does it take to do what i've said? In a nanosecond you can have two workig boards maybe..

I really appreciate your suggestion, but the board is heavily damaged, I have found a lot of burnt small IC's! I have some other TV's to work on. This card is beyond economical repair!
