i have the psu, just looking for anything else available to go with it.
i dont have the tv yet, i want to get an idea whats inside before i visit the owner/friend.

symptom is messed-up colours, but it had intermittent backlight issues in the past - so may be bad soldering.

This is not the wysemost mode to follow, you better have to ask the friend a photo of the faulty colors by email and then judge, the A558 is almost surely a variant of A558 that uses the famous as15 chip in the tcon, to replace...

This model uses few models of panels, one of them is manufactured by AUO, famous for their AS15-F chips. So probably thats the problem. If in your case the panel is not made by AUO ill send you the schematics.
