    Sharp lc-43n4000u

I have a sharp lc-43n4000u set that was struck by lightning surge. How do I start diagnosing the problem? Just repaired a Samsung 65 inch with the same problem. Replaced main board and it works fine. I tried the same procedure with unplugging the main board and plugged the set in but it did not power the backlights up. Where do I start?

Not all TV brands turn on their backlights when the Main Bd is disconnected. Some SAMSUNG TVs do. Most likely the Main Bd in the SHARP TV is destroyed, also. However, we would need photos and voltage readings to better assess your situation.

Start by providing good clear pictures of the backside of the TV showing all the boards so we can see what we are dealing with.

If a TV was hit by lightning and backlights will only come on with main board disconnected from power board does that mean main board is the problem?
