    MS-16J61 water damage

    Received recently an MSI GL62 6QD, it had water damage in the KBC, so I replaced it and flashed the KBC firmware and BIOS from MSI site.

    PWR_SW is 3.3V and does go down if I press power button.
    RSMRST# is always low (0V), but if I press power button it goes to 3.3V for a while and then go back down.

    A strange thing I noticed is if I connect the battery, I get a blue LED.

    I'm at a loss, I've got 3.3ALW and 5ALW. And BIOS/KBC are both clean flashed. What's my next course of action?

    I attached schematic for MS-16J51, but it's VERY close to the board I'm working on.

      37= EC_RST# = 3.3V
      53= LID# = 0V
      108= AC_PRESENT = 0V
      110= AC_OK# = 3.3V
      114= PWR_SW# = 3.3V
      117= PM_PWRBTN# = 0V
      121= PM_SLP_S3# = 0V
      124= VCC_IO2 = 3.3V
      127= PM_SLP_S4# = 0V

      What do EC_RST#, LID#, PM_SLP_S3, PM_SLP_S4 and PM_PWRBTN# do?

        LID# should be 3v. Try removing lid switch from mb/powerbutton board. PM_slp s3/s4 will generate only after power button press and are generated by PCH.

          By lid switch do you mean UB2? LID# is not shorted, but I applied 3.3V from my bench power supply and RSMRST# still won't go HIGH.

            EC_RST# RESET KBC 3V

            LID# 3V When you close the Screen of the laptop with the help of this Signel the MB will go to sleep mode

            PM_SLP_S3 -WAKE UP Signel from PCH to KBC

            PM_SLP_S4- WAKE UP Signel from PCH to KBC

            PM_PWRBTN# POST POWER Switch KBC inform PCH

            If RTCRST# is low the PCH won't work at all, the board will stay in the S5 state and SLP_S3#/SLP_S4# will not come up.

              AC_PRESENT Is low 0V find out RN9 any short this Voltage is pull up from +3VSUS
              PM_PWRBTN# = 0V is low, Missing BATLOW# will prevent PCH going out from S5

                Couldn't find RN9, had to measure R405, but it was not shorted and AC_PRESENT is not shorted either.

                AC_PRESENT and PM_PWRBTN# go HIGH (3.3V) for 12 seconds if I press power button once.

                    Re: MS-16J61 water damage

                    MS-16J61 seems to be different to MS-16J51 in the RTC circuit.

                    But R434 does not appear to have short and it's connected directly to (+) side of CR2032 battery.
