    [help]asus x510unr rev 3 dead

hi friend, please help with this motherboard. i don't know the history. but it is totally dead!

when i insert power supply i have full short!

i have found short to ground on pl8302.

removing pl8302 i have short only on one side: +1.0VSUS

i've removed jumper pjp8303 and i have short on both sides.

i've descovered (i don't remember how) that removing PU8302 i haven't full short connecting power supply

i've discovered that i have FULL SHORT ON +1.0VSUS

Remove all power -> meter in the lowest scale -> measure the resistance to ground of this rail. Post the resistance reading and meter scale used for the measurement.

If the resistance is very low, the CPU could be dead.

with my fluke 17b+ SCALE AUTO (red probe on ground black on 1.0vsus) i have 0,7 ohm

        Re: [help]asus x510unr rev 3 dead

Check the attached and remove the parts in 'X' to see if the low resistance to ground is due to the filter caps.

in the motherboard (rev 3) there aren't the 4 capacitor... so it's not a capacitor problem.
i'v removed capacitor PCE8302 with no luck

After removing PCE8302, which side of PJP8303 has the low resistance ? Both pins ??

              0.7 ohm left side (1.0vsus)
              11.7 ohm right side

                maybe its' a cpu fault?

                    Re: [help]asus x510unr rev 3 dead

Confirm the partial schematic posted earlier. If you have broken each of the 'X' marked PCB jumpers, why is there such a low resistance to ground on the LEFT side = regulator side of the traces ?

That is almost a direct solder short to ground.

Locate the root cause of this fault.

The right side is the consumer (load) side and ~11 ohms may be ok for a CPU. CPU designs these days are current sucking pigs (not to be confused with the salt eating women of Star Trek).

i cant broke the jumper, because those jumpers are not present on the motherboard...

please open the board view and you will see

Which jumper are you referencing ? Each jumper is fixed on the logic board ?

Only pjp8303 has been removed ?

If yes, focus on the 2 mosfets linked to this voltage rail.

Place the meter in resistance mode. Remove all power.

Check the resistance of the following mosfet pins:

                        source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
                        source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
                        gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Review the above for PQH8301 and PQL8302. Post the resistance readings.

psp8303 and psp8302 are not present, nor visible on the motherboard i can see only a VIA

i can see and remove pjp8303 and it has been removed from the beginning to isolate the vsus line

                          PQH8301

                          Source drain 1,6 ohm
                          source gate 132 ohm
                          gate drain 132 ohm

                          pql8302

                          Source drain 11,8 ohm
                          source gate 1,8 mohm
                          gate drain 4 mohm

BUT I REMEMBER YOU THAT I HAVE REMOVED pl8302 to isolate the line...one line is connected to those mosfets.... removing it, i have short only tho the other side...so it's not a mosfet problem!

Can you confirm the measurements for PQH8301 mosfet?

Which scale on your meter was used?

These are very low resistance values and appears to be shorted.

i confirm...autoscale mode but even removing it, i still have short on both side of pjp8303

cutting psl8303 i have short only on one side of pjp8303 (pin 2 vsus line)

vsus line has also two jumper sl2632 and sl2623...and they come always to u0301....so i think that u0301 is the problem...

Ok. To confirm, you have PL8302 lifted by one leg or removed from the board ?

Still have this low resistance ? Then review the trace with PSP8302 -> leads to a resistor @ PR8313. Is this correct ?

Remove PR8313 but do not lose it.

After removing PR8313, do you still have this very low resistance to ground ?

Removed from one side. But Why you care about pl8302? Cutting psp8302 like i said, i have short only on one side pjp8303…And the side not shorted is connected to pl8302…

However, now I’m outsider: when i come Back, i will check for you!!!! THANKS!!
