Strange behavior on the proline laptop

    Hello my lovely brothers

I'm facing a strange behavior here, the laptop comes up and quickly shut down.

When i remove the ram it cones on and the green light stays and doesn't shut down, I changed the ram and inserted another ram it still doing the same thing.

I checked the ram power supply there is no short to ground

    Measurements are:
    -Ram power supply = 1.5v
    -Cpu power supply = 0.0v

Motherboard number it = 6-71-W24Z0-D02A I dont have the schematic

Re: Strange behavior on the proline laptop

Hello guys please clue me up here on this machine, here my finds so far

I Have 1.11v on the vcore, and the gate on one of the mosfets for vcore power supply is 0.007 when compared to ground.

One more thing i have 0v on the gfx core

The laptop keeps on turning On and quickly shuts down after pressing the power button

Any clue guys, why the value of the gate is so low if compared to ground? Is this normal

The switching on those fets is really fast and your meter probably isn't picking it up correctly. Get a scope if you have one and look at it.

0v on gfx core is most likely your problem. Whats the resistance of gfx core to gnd?

                      Thats fine.
What do you get on Pin 4 (VR_EN) of PU1?
Please measure while powering the board. It should go high when the board turns on.

                        Yes i did, i get 3.25v

The board is still doing the same thing, powers on and quickly goes off

I checked all the power supplies, they are all okay, 5v is okay, ram volts is okay i have 1.5v on the ram chip and coil, pch power supply is okay .

If i remove the ram it powers on and never shut down but obvious no display and doesn't post

                            Now check
                            Gate & Drain voltage on PQ108, PQ109
                            Gate voltage on PQ110, PQ111

There is no universal guide for troubleshooting something. But usually you always check all power rails before doing anything else. That will give you a clue of what is going on.
Power rail missing? => Fix it.
All power rails present and everything should be ok but no post? => Bios or dead CPU

Going by my experience, your sio chip is bad. Replacing it will solve your problem.
