Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi everybody! I'm a recently retired biochemist. Had a computer since 1986 (20Mb!). Used them a lot but apart from swapping drives, I haven't really had the chance to tinker with them til now. Presently got my son's girlfriends desktop in bits, trying to trace the fault, so I'll be posting about that I expect. Love the friendly feel of this site; can't wait to learn tons of stuff.

            Hello everyone

            This is Nathan from CRE,China

I am gald to join this forum

I worked for over 10 years as capacitor engineer.

I've also had a lot of weird issues. Capacitors are damaged, fail, and prevent electronic equipment from working properly.

            Hope to give some advice.

Hello to all. Unfortunately, I barely belong here. As a long time Race Car, Speed Shop owner, and 60's fuel dragster (with my brother and our partner/friend Earl). I put together a desk top unit out of Tiger Supply pieces. It worked well for years. I did not, and do not know what I am doing other than plugging wires in. Had a few years of mechanical engineering school, but no degree. I always wanted to know more about fixing broken boards and stuff. Now that I am at the end of my string (life) age: (middle eighties) so nothing to lose. I am seriously learning to pick an old time Dobro guitar, working to finish working on our 21 acre farmette home, and spending an hour or two a day, trying to learn what I can about circuit board testing and component repair. I figure somebody built it so I should be able to repair it. That last motto hasn't worked out too well lately as I have recently exploded several capacitors when messing with 7805 and 7905 voltage regulators. I picked up a Global Specialties PB503 bread board kit and would like to fool with some simple projects. I inherited a whole gang of test equipment, and fortunately, with Youtube videos, and forums like this one, things are gradually starting to make sense. I can almost understand a data sheet from Texas Instrument, or such, almost..

i almost never post anything anywhere .... I'm not sure i even need the extra features.
mostly just looking for pin outs, schematics, and info. I suppose if i ever had unique useful information i would share it ... but that seems like a low percentage happenstance.

Good evening from Mullion Cove Cornwall. I am 76 and started in Radio and TV servicing in 1961. We ran our own business repairing radio TV and radio telephones from 1977 till 1986, when we moved to Cornwall to run a gift shop until 1995. I have a radio workshop and supply service data online for all types of radio and test equipment. I joined as I like sharing the repair of my own equipment with others and helping if I can. As soon as I am able to post I have a question on a Reebok motor board that I have now working, but still has an odd fault with the lift motor. God Bless Allen

Thanks for the forum. I'm trying to enjoy life in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, but Samsung junk has me highly vexed. I'm hoping you experts can help me find a way to deprive them of their next unit sale, and keep a 58 incher out of the landfill. Thanks again!
