I would think that if you are seeing GFCI on hair driers then the lawyer might have a hand in it because of some dumb a** did something that should have known better in the first place

The same thing happens with operating manuals when you see things that if you have any com-sense you would not be doing in first place

I have fixed it for good. I tested it on both low and high speeds for at least 5 minutes each. Low speed produced a exhaust temp of 240C, while my added in
heat sink mounted 1N5408 diode performed at no higher than 80F, with my thermal gun. My outside ambient air was 79F at time of test. Note: that bolt sticking out the back, which holds the diode heat sink never even got warm to my touch during testing.

I know I spent $6000 of time and $3 parts to fix this $9 heat gun, and drove all in here crazy, but that's not what I am here for. Thanks again to all, eccerr0r had the solution first and Kaboom was way over my head mathematically, but
Not scientifically....thanks to both, and everyone.

Take a look at my rigged diode heat sink in the intake air side if you are curious......works like a champ. I can fix the next one in 30 minutes for under a dollar.

      The end
Update: I have rode this thing HARD and put it up wet and it still works like a champ, even when hot glueing everything everywhere. I have run this for 40 some odd minutes straight, lots of times and its still golden.

Electric Button Breaker Thermal Overload Protection
        by SolomonMan
        All,
I have two 120V compressors that I have been working on. Both are getting new Capacitors.

As I am replacing the capacitors I am looking over the other electrical components.

One compressor is a Harbor Freight 21 Gallon Vertical . The other is Horizontal Craftsman which is roughly the same size. The one Harbor Freight Capacitor was fried and the other looks like it may have opened. The Craftsman Starting Capacitor was/or has been leaking badly.

The Harbor Freight Thermal Overload protector was lost over the past 10 years after the unit was originally...

Mounting and Handling Guidelines for TO220 TO220F TO247 Cases / Packages

The TO220, TO220F and TO247 are the popular packages for power devices because of their versatility and ability to dissipate moderate amounts of heat. This application note describes the basic guidelines for handling power MOSFETs in TO220, TO220 and TO247 packages shown in Figure 1. Please note that only mechanical and soldering guidelines are covered here. Additional precautions are required for isolating high voltage rated devices to meet safety regulations.

Harbor Freight car battery chargers any good?
        by caphair
I was gifted a $50 HF gift card and could use a battery charger. Just not sure if the HF brands are any good.

Anyone bought/use any they can recommend?

Out of their selection and reviews was contemplating this one:

detecting heat with IR LED receiver

I have some dark IR led, and want to know if it is be situable to detect pure heat (not visable glow ir radiation) in well lighted desk?

So, if I put hand over it in near distance like few centimeters, that detect rising heat, not covering it from light.
Something like termal camera, but in one spot, any simple circuit?...

        Moto G84 short after heat
        by ludovik
        Hello everyone,
i was reballing the power manger of a moto g84, after applying heat i tried to power on and it wouldn’t.
i injected 1.5v to some capacitor that seem in short because both side beep if tested.
        when i inject i feel the cpu burning;
since the cpu is exactly on the other side of the board, is that possible that the heat from the reballing damaged the cpu? do you know where i can find schematics or what can i do?
i know this is not enough to explain the situation so if you need any other info ask me please!
Thank you very much in advance
