    Digital Multimeter Brymen 896s Issue

    Hey Guys,

I've been having a couple of issues with my DMM recently and I've no clue on how to go about fixing it.

    1) The DMM doesn't read AC voltages anymore. All I have is OL

    2) The temperatures readings are stuck at ~330˚C on both T1 & T2

I looked at the internals and there is no obvious sign of damage. I've not connected my DMM to a high voltage source on a wrong mode (to the best of my knowledge). The fuses are good. The battery is new and in perfect shape.

Being a complete noob, I'm clueless as to what my next steps of troubleshooting should be.

Could you guys help me with the next steps?

you need to seperate the boards, but first email Bryman.
they are very helpfull with stuff like this - unlike fluke.

I wrote to Brymen about a month back. No response from them

I will separate the boards and look for obvious signs. Thanks for your inputs.

Extech are not helpful either. And I used my work email adress, and no reply...

There should be a rectifier (diodes) at the imput for the AC voltage, and also one or two capacitors and resistors. Maybe some of them are blown.

I'm trying to fix a digital multimeter. It was working until I blew the fuse (actually the "buzz" for continuity wasn't working). I've now replaced the fuse but it's acting strangely. When I turn the dial to V, nothing happens. But when I turn to anything else, it makes a continuous, very fast clicking sound - like the piezo buzzer is trying to do something. And at each position of the dial (other than V) there are brief flashes of life on the LCD. It doesn't seem to matter if the probes are connected. I wasn't sure where to start, so I've tested most of the diodes and cleaned the...

Which multimeter to choose : BRYMEN BM 869S OR UNIT UT18B PRO ?
              by madfreak
Hello, there were probably topics like this, but I need opinions about these 2 multimeters or maybe there is another one on the market worth to buy ? .

I am going to change the multimeter and I do not know if the 2x higher price for Brymen will convert into speed and comfort of a work ...

              What would you recommend?

Brymen BM869s or UNIT UT18B pro?
I care about accuracy and security, and the meter will be used for computer hardware.

Thank you very much in advance for your comments and suggestions

Beckman Industrial/(later Wavetek) Digital Multimeter DM27XT Repair

Was testing to see if a bug zapper grid voltage (=< 2800VDC) had discharged yet. Set meter to highest range (1000 VDC) and probed across the grid. Heard an audible arc so voltage must have discharged into something in the front end of the meter. Now all functions that use the V-Ohm/Com input just reads "OL" (over range). Even the continuity test with the probes shorted reads OL with no beep. Opened it up and found input resistor R31 47 ohms, completely open. Replaced with new resistor but meter still reads "OL". The low battery icon on the display is visible even...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
              by rounin
              Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

              🛠 Original Issue
              The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
              by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...
