Re: Sonos Playbase S11 dead. No led at the front

Hi Zing, are there specific points on the logic board that I can verify the main voltages (RAM, FLASH,CPU)?

      Hi Zinge,
Could you tell me exactly which points I can measure the main voltages for the logic board (RAM, Flash, CPU)
      Thanks

There was a short circuit (0Omh) on the three Green capacitors
As a diode, there is a mosfet Q4. It's been burned down.
As I replace it I will say or do it

        PS/
Author of the topic check the main voltages on the board (RAM,FLASH,CPU)
That MOSFET Q4 is part of Active rectification (or synchronous rectification) circuit, the Gate of the MOSFET is driven by IC U16. Look up the part number of the IC so you can get the spec sheet and it may include application circuit for the IC.
C249 connected in series with resistors R409//R410 are RC snubber for Q4 Source and Drain pin, make sure they are OK. Hopefully U16 is OK because if U16 us bad and the output of U16 causes Q4 to stay on instead of switching on and off then Q4 will be damaged.

I see at least two switching power supplies (look to Buck converters), you can see the black inductors with 4R7 printed on top, then in that section you will see lytic caps and look like some tantalum caps ( black rectangular device) with 107 printed on top, so check the DCV between the legs of those caps.
Also provide the zoom in pictures of those power supplies sections so we can read the prints.

Hi budm, thanks for pointing it out. I took the DC measurements and attached an image with my findings.
I am getting 4.96VDC on all the caps. the side with the stripe. The other side reads 0v most likely because its the ground.

What DCV do you read on that Lytics cap C335 (22UF 35V)? I expect about 14VDC.
Since you are getting about 5VDC, that means it is 5V Buck converter.
How about the Voltage of another buck converter on the top right of the board? I see IC U4 in that section, you need to the Voltage readings on those MLCC (Multi Layer Ceramic Capacitor, TAN Color looking caps)

I installed Q4 AUIRFB4410 end the output voltage appeared 13.5V.
                I'll try to enable it

I am reading 14VDC on the cap C335.
I am reading the following voltages on the caps on the MLCC caps: 14.02VDC and 3.31 on the other side on the caps . I have an image attach with specifics. also C4 is reading 14.02VDC

So you also have 3.3V, so far you do have 5V and 3.3V to run the logic circuits.
What is the history of the unit? It mat be FW issue. Did you do any search to see if other people have the same similar issue?

The unit randomly stop working when I was watching TV. I actually thought it was a bad cap that gave up.
Thanks for your help budm. I will search on Google if I can find a firmware. Thanks again.

After the replacement, MOSFET started working. Currently working. I will check whether it will work
The firmware is unique. There's a MAC address...keys. I have nothing for you to read the software from The Flash

So I plug the Ethernet cable directly to my router and from the Sonos app, I was able to successfully download the firmware even though the speaker did not have the standby led on. What I found that after I increase the volume of speaker via the app, the app stops responding and the speaker stops playing. Once I unplugged and plug the speaker, I have to go through the process of adding the speaker again.
