Dick Smith GE6992 Flashing Backlight every 10 secs

Hi, wondering if I can get some assistance with this TV please.

Backlight starts flashing on/off roughly every 10seconds after the TV gets warm. (10-20 minutes)

I have stripped it down to the LED'S thinking I may see the culprit but all strings seem okay & test okay with LED Tester.

Each LED string (4) measures 130v & drops around 2v when it flashes & back up to 130v.

    Power Supply number; tv6501-zc02-01
    Mainboard number; ms33930-zc01-01
    Panel number; V650HP1-PS6

I have a basic Multimeter & LED Tester.
    Thanks

If you turn the backlight level down does the time between flashes increase?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      1) Try as DB suggested.
      2) Do the LED strips have SMD connectors?
The tester only puts out about 30mA, so bad LED or the bad connections may not show up as bad but will fail at operating current (hundreds of mA).

There is no backlight level on this TV that I can see, normally I would turn it down anyway.
There is a greyed out option called 'screen' that I cannot access, happen to know how I can?

Parental lock is off & I have reset the TV as well.

Not sure what you mean by smd connectors, I have a attached a picture of the connectors which connect all the LED strips on each side of the TV.
There are no middle connectors between the 2 strips in the middle of the chassis.

Regarding the LED Tester, yes I agree & they do not fail when I use it.
I have tested the entire array with panel removed using the power supply, it does the same thing after around 10 minutes.

Those connectors on the LED strip are Surface Mounted, not through hole pins, they are very flimsy.
Typical TV OSD will have Backlights level setting on the same page where you adjust the Video Brightness and Contrast.

There is no Backlight option in any of the menus, only the greyed out 'video' which is unselectable.

It is a budget TV, from memory I had another Dick Smith that had no backlight option as well.

Do you suggest taking off the surface mount connections & hard soldering them?

Turn it off. Plug an active VGA or HDMI device in the back and power it on.....does the back light stay on? If not inspect the wiring and connectors to the IR remote module......

I should be clearer, the backlight stays on, it flashes off for a brief second about every 10 seconds.

                  Same on all inputs.
