Help me to understand how this HoldPeak HP-990B smd tester works

Hi can anyone explain how it works with smd tests the one I have a tweezer is called: HoldPeak HP-990B.
I would like to understand if you test a component, for example a capacitor in continuity mode, then this should beep if it is open or short, otherwise it is "OL" that applies or ???

important thing is the threshold of when it beeps ..think my meter goes to 18 ohms then over that it doesn't beep .

Read the manual, it explains all the modes and what they do, and at what resistance the continuity test beeps.
Here is the manual, isn't GOOGLE a wonderful tool

Here is a good USB C tester that actually works first time you connect it to a device

Here is where you can find one

                      https://www.ebay.com/itm/11450939852...53.m2749.l2649

I am not getting paid for this recommendation nor was it a free item from the seller

I have bought several USB A/C type testers are not worth a crap for USB C you have to connect it several times to a USB C device before it recognizes the device to me this is worthless

The only downside of this tester is that it does not tell you what protocol you are accessing but this to me is not a very big deal because I would...

                      Hello everyone,

About me, my goal and the equipment I (don't) have:
I am brand new to this forum, and I am eager to learn about repairing laptops. I have an engineer background although I haven't done electronics for a while. I have watched several Youtube videos in the last two months, trying to understand how to diagnose a faulty motherboard. I have a USB-C Amp meter and a classic multi meter. No DC Power Supply to inject voltage, no soldering iron to replace components.

About my issue and my goal:
A friend of mine has a MacBook Air M1 A2337 that does not...

Dell ATX PSU won’t start, but forcing it works fine?
                      by CapLeaker
Got a case of something new weird at work. There is an old 2nd gen Intel i3 in an old “Pizza box” shell that has a small form factor power supply. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures and model number off it.

Anyway, I get to work and get to look at this computer. Standby LED on the PSU is on, but the computer won't start. Hmm o.k. take the battery out of the main board try again, nothing. O.k. then… unplug the power supply from the main board and put in a full size ATX PSU (yeeeesss! Exact that blown Powerman IP that I fixed a while back), plug it in and the old...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                      by rounin
                      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                      🛠 Original Issue
                      The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...

                      Hello mates,

I bought this subwoofer a few days ago used and blind and it works erratically, as far as I could see, it has been tampered with, the speaker is not the original one and of 8 Ohm when it should be of 4, and there are some welds like reworked by the boards.

It doesn't have much power (expected more from it) and it distorts if you increase the volume over the middle, maybe it's because of the high impedance of the speaker. The problem is that it has sound when it wants, the led panels all work correctly, you can hear the power relay on power on, but right now...
