Vizio m3d550kde no jingle but vertical lines on screen

Please take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think. No audio at all.
Set does not ever show the amber standby vizio but that could just be burnt out. Power on and the white vizio comes up.. no start up jingle.. screen comes up with vertical lines, white vizio goes out after about 10 sec. Screen stays on but times out after a few minutes. Sometimes the white vizio flashes on and off... and times out. But next power push and the screen lights up as below.

I was pretty sure this was T-con but now not sure. One site that sells the tcon says none of their boards cure vertical lines. All voltages on the ps look good. There is only 24, 12, and 5. Nothing like the Plasmas I have been working on.

I tried unplugging main board but would not power up at all. Tried some freeze spray.. no go. Also flexed the screen looking for bond issues.. no change what so ever. One more thing.. I noticed the ribbon cable on the right side of tcon board does not insert as deeply as the left side.. Reseated both with blue line still showing on right.


So do I have a bad panel or??? Set is 55 inch and about three years old.

What do you get on the screen if you have one ribbon cable between the T-CON and the LCD panel connected one at a time?

Thanks to you both for responding. Budm.. With one of the data lines unplugged I get a white screen on that side. It moves to the other side when I switch cables. A side question.. why does any of this kill the audio ??

Maybe change the LED Driver Board? They are cheap

LED driver is for the backlights, you have image on the screen because the backlights are working, lines on the screen has nothing to do with backlights.
I would say you have bad panel, you can try new T-CON board if it is cheap enough.

It is 'LED' backlights, the screen is LCD. It is not LED TV, false advertising.

I knew better than question a professional... but I did it anyway. Confusion
is a foot thick here. I did order a Tcon as last ditch effort. Can I replace the LCD panel for anything reasonable... And if so where? Shop Jimmy almost laughed at me.
They indicated a panel would be 80% of new TV.

Do the lines move around? Does it change when the menu is displayed? If so you may have a bad main board. Usually a regulator on a Vizio. That would explain no audio. Had a Sony with lines like that that moved around and a Main board fixed it.

No they do not move around or change at all. Only change I could make is unplug half of the tcon board output as suggested above.

No sign of abuse or cracked screen either.. bummer

Waiting now for tcon board and still fretting about no audio. No startup jingle or any sound at all. Could I have two separate problems? Can I power it up with the input to the t-con unplugged without doing damage?

Thanks. Did that. no change with jingle or audio.. Screen backlights on.
Unless I have two problems, you would think audio would be normal.

Found the panel for 625.00 plus shipping. Right. Would not think they would sell many.

While I am waiting on the tcon board can someone explain the logo light to me. Three wires going to it from main board. There are 5 volts on pin 3 all the time set is plugged in. Does the main board pull either pin 1 or 2 to ground depending on light needed.. amber or white? (I could have the pins numbered backwards)

Replace t-con board. No change. I think the main board has problems too... but with bad screen I have come to the end of this one. I would think that with tcon and led driver board unplugged.. should have startup jingle, and audio.
Since I do not... maybe the Eprom got scrambled from p.o. trying to get the screen to come up correctly. It is for sure higher than my pay grade.

Recycle it goes.
