LG plasma tv behaving very odd

Hi I have a lg 60 inch plasma tv

Tv power on fine and has great pic but after 15 min picture starts doing solarization is what I believe it's called

Picture starts looking all funky

...but here is the weird thing....if I hit menu button...the osd comes up and graphics are fine....then when osd goes off the picture is fine again....but after another 15 min pic goes funky again...solarization....but if I hit menu button again the osd menu graphics are fine and when osd goes off the pic is good again....and I repeated this a few times and does same...

I just got tv and have done no other testing other than powering on and doing the menu button thing....

Why would hitting menu button cause pic to be good again? For brief time.

Without doing any testing it would seem a y or buffer issue but the menu button thing is odd

it just good practice to clean them, don't touch them with your finger or wear gloves.

i had odd polarized picture such as your self and it because one of the ribbons from the main board to the sc was dirty.

mine worked perfectly for a while but i think because i touched the contacts with my greasy fingers the problem started over a period of time .

cleaned them all with iso and called it a day and never had another problem again.

Hi I appreciate your help but why would cleaning the ribbons have anything to do with my issue regarding menu button.....'m trying to find out why when I hit menu button and osd comes up the picture becomes good....but then after 15 min pic goes bad again....and repeats....as stated in my thread...

I need to pinpoint the issue and not just take random guesses....

when ever i hit the menu button it cause some kind of surge and i hear a change in the wining of the plasma.

im guessing in your case these little surges can cause the connection to vibrate caucusing a good connection.

just please try cleaning the connection's

I just fixed a 50PN4500 and it would shutdown every 15 minutes or when menus change. I found the screws on the Y-sus were loose and I had to re-tin the screw hole contact areas (solder thinly applied) all problems vanished

bmam4 im going to do what you said but instead of reposting i will say the tv is doing funky stuff but i will add to it

just now i hooked up a dvd player to tv and the picture is really messed up i will submit some photos of how picture goes from black and white to crazy outline colors..there does seem to be a blue tinted 4 inch horizontal area that seems fixed...see photo.....but the weird thing is that if i unplug the video cable to tv the menu osd graphics are perfect.....but as soon as i plug the video source back in the menu osd goes funky just like the picture does....and the sound is ok at first but then after 10-15 min the sounds stutters/choppy and goes loud to soft to nothing randomly
