    GIGABYTE AORUS RX580 4GB - PCIe x1 only ?

Hi, I have a GIGABYTE AORUS RX580 4GB (GV-RX580AORUS-4GD), but when testing with GPU-Z it works only with PCI speed x1, not x16 as it schould. Framerate is also very low.

Anybody an idea what can be the cause ?

Can you share pictures of the pcb starting from the PCIe edge fingers?

It is possible that some series dc blocking caps are missing or maybe damaged?

Do you know the history of this board? Did it ever work properly?

      I second that
Also if you can't see any damaged capacitors, check (in diode mode) the reading from each PCIe lane to ground on both sides of the card - they should all be the same

On the side with the capacitors you need to check from the end of the capacitor furthest away form the PCIe connector. The readings on this side should also all be the same, but will probably be different from the other side.

Finally check each capacitor for shorts

Yes, that will be a video which can be referred to in most of your answers.

          Many thanks for the hints.

Seems that one pci lane did not contact correctly. All but one had ca 520R resistance.
I have pressed the GPU to the board with my fingers, and voila the resistance came up again. Tested with GPU-Z and it comes up with PCIe x16 3.0 when render test is perfomed. With no render test it switches back to PCIe x16 1.1. Seems this is like that on that card. Before it did not want to switch to 3.0 at all.

So it seems the GPU needs a reballing, or a reflow at least.
Will try to make this when time will be available.
