I found this site thru a link on another tech site.... always looking for solutions for problems. I don't know much about software, but I've been fixing electronics since.... tubes were common. This looks like a good place to help and learn!

Hello All!
My name is John, and I've been a tinkerer for over 30 years...

I started out as a kid taking all of my toys apart, and I guess I just never quit... The toys just keep getting bigger and more expensive!

I do various appliance and electronic repair, mostly for friends and family, but did work in an appliance repair shop for a little while.

Mainly here to learn as much as I can, and who knows, maybe I'll even have a real question/post from time to time.

Hi Everybody (in my best Dr. Nick accent)

I've been tinkering with electronics bits and pieces for ages, nothing more complicated than using a multimeter to test voltage and continuity.

Lately, I've become a little bit smarter for having to repair a whole load of switchmode power supplies (1st because a sparky made a big boo boo in the switchboard by leaving the neutrals of two circuits from different phases unlinked to the main neutral ... boom goes all you 240v appliances, and 2nd, a mate's been decimated by pole top fire than killed most of his electronics).

So for the starwar fans, I'm a humble padawan amongst jedi.

In my spare time, I like riding my 300kg lounge chair, a Guzzi 1200 Sport.

Hello chaps
I'm one of those guys who likes taking things apart (all though I expect most of you do), even better when it needs fixing...
I understand electronics(know what parts do, and why they are there etc.. basic stuff), I've got a arduino board I like playing with. But that said I'm no expert, so fault finding I'm not great at.

I'm here to find help with the power supply of a tele with persisting popping capacitors. And I'm convinced this is just the right forum to help

Hi all,
I stumbled upon this forum seeking information about a failed clock/controller board for one of my appliances. A clue that I would find it was all the online offers to repair it for me. I'd rather try it myself, so I was glad to find this forum and now I can't wait to get into some good reading here. I too have acquired a learning addiction.
