Philips 40PFL4707/F7B has sound, but no picture

    Hello,

I used this TV (Philips 40PFL4707/F7B) very little and is now out of warranty, and when I turn it on, the Philips logo flashes for an instant and then no picture, no menus, nothing. Sound works fine.

As recommended, i held a flashlight next to the screen and I could (barely) see the image moving. So I removed the back cover, and found there is one inverter board on the left side (many sites mention there should be two, but this one has only one). When I searched online, this is called a LED driver.

I replaced it (ssl400 0e2d) with a new one I purchased online, but the exact problem persists. So i will be returning it on monday.

Any ideas on how I should proceed? What could be the problem then?

thanks in advance for your help

    Tony

Could you supply a picture of the inverter and of the TV set's boards?
Does the backlight light or flash at all when you first power the TV up?
Do you have a digital multimeter?

I would check the voltages on CN3 on the led power supply (there are 4 test points marked led-1 to led-4) and see if they are all the same voltage when the tv is first powered on and you see the logo. if one ore more voltages is different, I would suspect one of the led circuits is bad.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i have the same problem
i probe the voltage at CN3

          led 4 0volts
          led 3 11volts
vcc go to 80volts and drop to 5 volts
          nothing
          led 2 11 volts
          led 1 11 volts
vcc go to 80 volts and drop to 5 volts

I bought another led power supply on ebay and get the exact voltages.
If someone can help me, it could be really cool.
I wish to use this tv for my kids.

LED #4 string has open circuit that is why you are getting 0V on the Cathode return pin.

                        Ok, guys!
                        i found 1 burning led.
This is possible to buy only 1 led and replace it?
maybe i can pay someone here to sell me 2-3?
i found some complete stripes at 30$ on ebay... but... if i always prefer to give a second chance to my stuff.

hopefully u bought new strips ?? my experience is by band-aid a burnt out LED
or replacing the bad one with a new one - it works but only for so long. Usually another one will bun out later. If keeping set - buy new strips and replace them all. Don't run the set on full brightness or you'll be replacing them again
